OPUS, the OPUS - The Internship and Placement Cell of Bharati College is a budding student-driven professional body formed in the session 2017-18. The Cell strives to bridge the gap between students and recruiters by inviting various companies to our campus for providing career opportunities to our students. Not only does the Cell act as a mediator between recruiters and students, but it also aims at polishing the amateur skills of the students to make them industry-ready.
In 2019-20, the Cell successfully organised its first ever Internship Fair - SAMARTH’19, inviting over 15 companies and NGOs of eminence, to offer internship opportunities to the students. OPUS also organised AARAMBH’20 - The Job Fair in February 2020, with the objective of helping final years students ascend the ladder of their careers. Companies like Economics Times, Impetus HR Consultants, IGIA, Genpact, Arvind Fashions, and Clarian were some of the eminent invitees.
The academic year 2021-22 witnessed a myriad of internship opportunities brought to the students by the Cell. An aggregate of 127 students, from all years and all courses, were provided internships during the session. Varied profiles like HR, Content Writing, Business Development, Marketing, Wealth and Risk Management, Equity Research Analysis, and Fundraising were offered to the candidates. For the year-end placements, final year students across different streams got placed in companies like Universal Data Solutions, Zoutons, Decathlon, Orbis Financial, and Zone Media, with an average package of 3.17 LPA.
In addition to the internships and placements, the Cell actively hosts regular webinars, workshops, and training sessions to acquaint students with different career options and how to work on acquiring new skills. For the same, ‘National Webtalk 2020’ was organised in August 2020, on the theme ‘Acing the Lines of Unconventional Careers’. The Speakers, pursuing diverse professions themselves, like — writing, art, fashion styling, entrepreneurship, blogging, and radio jockeying, kindle confidence in the students to put their insights into reality and pursue a career where their hearts lie.
The Cell has also conducted Pal-to-Pal sessions in August 2021, where the team members, themselves, helped students prepare for various career-related opportunities. Topics such as CV, Personal Interview, Linkedin Optimisation, Importance of GK and Current Affairs, and Correspondence over Email were discussed, describing their importance in the corporate world, alongside resolving queries of the attendees in an interactive manner.
The members of the Cell work diligently round the year to bring better opportunities for Bharati College students in the coming years.
