OPUS, the Training and Placement Cell of Bharati College, is a budding student-driven professional body formed in the session of 2017-18. The Cell strives to bridge the gap between students and recruiters by inviting various companies to our campus for providing career opportunities to our students. Not only does the Cell act as a mediator between recruiters and students but it also aims at polishing the amateur skills of the students to make them industry ready.
During the academic year 2018-19, the Cell was successful in organising workshops on 'How to crack a Personal Interview' and how to appear for a Group Discussion. Students these days are not merely attracted by the prospects of a conventional employment opportunity, they also need to look at unconventional roadmaps which suit their skillsets. Keeping this in mind, the Cell took an initiative to introduce out-of-the-ordinary jobs to the students, and organised an event, which was named 'Career Talks'. This event offered a lot of interesting possibilities like mass media, radio jockeying, music production, fashion, tours and travels etc. and witnessed an enthusiastic participation from the students. In the latter part of the academic year 2018-19, we collaborated with companies such as Decathlon, Macmillan Education, ITV Network, Genpact and Sharekhan to cater to the students of different streams such as the English Department, Journalism Department and Commerce Department, as well as students involved in sports.
In 2019-20, the Cell was successful in organising its first ever Internship Fair- SAMARTH'19 in October 2019, with 15+ companies and NGOs offering internship opportunities to the students- Sharekhan, Decathlon, Economic Times, Impetus HR Consultants, IGIA and Umeed being some of the eminent ones. The Cell also welcomed various companies and organisations to provide internship opportunities to students throughout the year. The Cell, in collaboration, with MTV, hosted an internship drive in January 2020 where students got a chance to intern with companies like Ajio, LinkedIn, Swiggy and Xiaomi.
OPUS also organised AARAMBH'20- The Job Fair in the month of February 2020, with the motive of getting the final year students to allow them to ascend the ladder of their career. The fair witnessed some prominent names like Genpact, Arvind Fashions, Datsme, Impetus HR Consultants and Clarian Projects and Consultants amongst others, offering an average package of 3 LPA. The companies offered jobs in the fields of marketing, business development, sales, fashion consultant, HR, finance and more.
In addition to the fairs, the Cell organised training sessions, workshops and webinars on topics like resume building, business communication skills etc in collaboration with institutions like Career Quest Solutions, O.P Jindal and Ascents Consulting to name a few.
The members of the Cell are diligent and aspire to bring in better internship as well as job opportunities and training sessions for students in the coming years.
I am proud to say that Bharati College grooms its young women to be disciplined, skilled, articulate and proactive in taking initiatives to hold their own place in the world. Students from Delhi and other parts of the country choose Bharati College to hone their personal, social, professional and entrepreneurial skills.
