The department of computer science was set up in the year 1994 with the objective of providing the latest quality education in the field of computer science. The Computer Application department introduced computational methods to BA program students and Generic electives courses to Hons students. The college has applied for B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science. These courses covers computer literacy, open source software’s, DBMS, computer networks, information security, cyber laws, and programming skills so that the students can make effective use of computer technology to make the career in today’s era. These programs also builds some basic skills for entry level jobs in information technology and web development. It will help students in making an informed decision regarding the goals that they wish to pursue in further education and life, at large. The main objective of the department is to prepare the students with the information technology tools so that the student can earn with these skills in a multinational corporation (MNC) and teaching as well.
Discipline course in Computer Application is offered to BA programme. Further, The Generic Electives courses are designed for students studying BA/BSc (Hons) programme, and those studying BA/B.Com. (Non-Hons) programme of University of Delhi.
After completion of this course a student will be able to:
Efficiently use Office Automation Tools like word processors, spreadsheets and presentation tools.
Develop simple programming constructs in a Programming Language (eg. Python)
Use multimedia authoring tools to design small applications using sound, audio, and video/animation.
Develop simple websites using HTML/DHTML, CSS and JavaScript programming codes.
Handle Computer Networks, modems and routers, and efficiently use Internet.
Develop and implement a simple project based on case study.
The curriculum of Generic Electives (Computer Science) offers a flavour of computer science and applications to students who do not have an opportunity to study these subjects as either major or minor subjects in their curriculum in University of Delhi. This course will help students in making an informed decision regarding the goals that they wish to pursue in further education and life, at large.
The Mission of the department is to produce highly qualified and motivated graduates through a rigorous curriculum of theory and application that develops the ability to solve problems, individually and in teams.
The Vision of the department is to contribute effectively to the important national endeavour to produce quality human resource using information technology tools. Also, to serve the local and the national community by creating awareness about IT related products and to impress upon then the importance of knowledge management.
Students have the various options like IT jobs and academic jobs. MCA, M.Sc. Computer Science etc. are the options for students.
Students have good opportunity to get a job of teaching and software industry. They may get job as Computer Trainer, DTP Designer, Web Developer, Digital Marketer, Programmer, Cyber Security Assistant and have opportunities for government jobs as well.
