Research Committee

Research is a pursuit integral to progress in any society. Its creative potential is immense and has been instrumental in bringing about constructive change in societies in innumerable ways. Research, as an organized and systematic exercise, has been contributing to bring humanity closer to relevant knowledge that meaningfully benefits the society. Bharati College, as a premier institute of higher learning, is committed to cultivating a meaningful research environment and expanding its benefit to the larger society. The college has institutionalized a Research Committee to specifically focus on various areas of research.

Basic Objective and Purpose of The Research Committee

Research Committee of Bharati College is committed towards enhancing the research profile of the institution. For this purpose, the committee constantly endeavors to encourage, enable and promote research environment in college through its various programs, workshops and seminars for faculty members as well as students.

A major objective of the research committee in colleges is to promote research in order to help the teachers in upgrading the pedagogies, teaching content and upgrading the course contents i.e., to facilitate research in a manner where it supplements and consolidates the teaching-learning process. Various research activities are geared towards motivating teachers to identify and engage with emerging fields of enquiries in different disciplines so that students can be equipped to choose their future areas of study and research for pursuing higher education.

The research committee also helps the teachers in strengthening their own research skills and working towards discovery of new ideas and concepts, for this purpose the committee organizes methodology workshops, training sessions and talks and seminars.

Promotion of newer ideas and research helps the development of college as a more inclusive, participatory and democratic space. It also helps in development of research aptitude of students. Further, it motivates students to develop an attitude of openness for accepting newer ideas.

The Events

Research in Progress Workshops for Faculty Members, Book Discussion and Discussions on Publications and Projects undertaken by Faculty Members, Research Methods Workshop Series, Student Seminars are some of the regular activities carried out by the committee. The effort is to bring together different departments to discuss, deliberate, exchange ideas and explore possibilities of relevant research areas in order to provide maximum exposure to students to the opportunities and promises that higher education holds for them.

Bharati College Journal

The Research Committee has been instrumental in reaching out to the academic community in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities through the publication of the college journal The Research Post. It is an International Journal for Social Sciences and Humanities.

The Research Post (ISSN 2229-676X) is a publication endeavor taken up by the Jan KalyanSamiti, Jaipur and Bharati College, University of Delhi. The Research Post is a biannual double blind peer reviewed journal. The objective of the journal is to encourage interdisciplinary research in social sciences and humanities. The journal attempts to provide a forum for exploration of ideas, practice and criticism. We welcome original research, articles, surveys, review papers and book reviews.

The articles published in the journal are measured on their academic content, contemporary relevance and interdisciplinarity as it includes a range of areas in social sciences like Political Science, International Relations, History, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Development Studies, Public Policy and Governance, English literature and language. We invite researches dealing with theoretical perspectives as well as empirical investigations.

Bharati College Blog

The Research Committee has also launched a Blog Palanquin of Thoughts: A Creative Quest a virtual space where a diverse set of opinions and thoughts are discerned in a unified platform that will ferry these thoughts across to assimilate them within existing knowledge of society. It serves as a platform where individuals can express their world views and their social, cultural, and political opinions.
