Every year, Bharati College holds its Alumni meet on the 3rdSaturday of April. This meet gives an opportunity to our alumni to interact with their old friends, classmates and teachers and share their memorable experiences with all. It further provides a platform for our students to share their success stories and continue to build a bond with the College.
An Alumni Association of Bharati College was started with a view that it would provide a meaningful platform for future interaction among all our former students. The main aim of the association is to strengthen the bond between alumni and the college, which includes developing an active network of alumni.
The Alumni Committee of Bharati College has been organizing alumni meet every year at the college campus. It has been working on creating an alumni directory and facilitate the formation of an active alumni association. The Alumni Committee is highly motivated to develop a strong, healthy association between the alumni, teachers, and current students. In the future the Alumni Committee is hoping to have the former students be an integral part of the college activities such as placements, seminars/ workshops, guest lectures, and career guidance for the current students in college. With the initiatives of our Honourable Principal, Dr. Rekha Sapra and the alumni committee, Bharati College is in the process of getting its Alumni Association registered.
To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, Bharati College organized its Annual Alumni Meet on April 28, 2019. Over two hundred alumni attended the function who beamed with excitement to return to their Alma Mater. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Ms. Uma Singh, an alumna of the 1981 batch. Dr. Gunjan Kumar Jha, a noted Ghazal singer and Indian Classical Vocalist also graced the occasion with his presence as a special guest.
The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and gave the mantra of success in Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam words that “If you want to shine like a sun, first burn like a sun.” She emphasized on the importance of not only achieving success but also sustaining one’s success. Some of the alumnus then shared their experience and the interesting moments of their campus life with the audience. They also talked about their journey after bidding adieu to college life and how Bharati College helped them become independent thinkers and responsible citizens. The event also witnessed various song and dance performances by the current batch of students. The highlight of the event was an extremely soulful rendition of soothing Ghazals by Dr Gunjan Kumar Jha who left the audience mesmerised by his mellifluous voice that transported them into a different era and mood.
I took admission in the college in 2012 and during my three-year long stay made some great friends, was taught by extremely effervescent professors, who are pretty much instrumental in shaping me as an individual. I got an opportunity to interact with some of them beyond the classroom as well and needless to say they have been major positive influences in my life. Currently, I am working with India Today Group as a journalist. I have also worked with Zee News and The Statesman newspaper in the past. I have been a part of the media for over 5 years now.
The three years spent at Bharati College were the most tremendous years of my life. I was in the College Volleyball team for three years and also captain of the team in my third year. After my graduation I did B.Ed from Guru Gobind singh Indraprastha University in 2019 and Masters in Commerce from Bharati Vidyapeeth University in 2020. Currently I am a teaching in Delhi International School, Rohini.
After the time bound and hectic schedule in the schools, we all look forward to colleges as it would end all our miseries and would introduce us to the world in its most fancy form.
Honestly, when I got the admission in the college, I was appreciating and totally loving everything about it. As I began to attend the classes, I instantly fell in love with the kind, patient, knowledgeable and inspiring faculty. I also got myself enrolled in German language course and completed my advanced diploma in the same by the time I graduated (2016). I also participated in and also won some debates, quiz and elocution competitions while at Bharati.
Even then, by God's grace, my sheer persistence and most importantly my teachers' guidance and motivation, I secured the first rank - not in a semester or an annual exam, not only within the circumference of Bharati College, but I topped B.A. (English) examinations across Delhi University in the year 2016. The University honoured me with a gold medal for the same. I knew I had done well in the exams but I didn't imagine it to be so big! Bharati College made it happen. The faculty did. And the timeless support of librarians of course always need a mention.
Further, I went on to pursue my Masters in literature from DU( Miranda House) and secured first division in the same. Soon, I got an offer from Hindustan Times Learning Centre and I am still working with the organization.
It has been more than three years that I visited Bharati as its student and I still fondly remember each and every detail of my college. And my awe and affection has not faded till now and it never will.
About my life at Bharati College, I would just like to summarise in just one sentence - I had the best time of my life. You get to make good friends, you get the opportunity to groom yourself, you just get to know the real world out there. Personally I learned a lot.
At Bharati, I got to learn from the brightest minds, teachers here make your life easy by making you understand things in a very simple way. After graduating, I qualified IBPS and was selected in Syndicate Bank. Today I am working as an Assistant Manager in Canara Bank.
After completing my course in 2018, in the same year I got employed in one of most sought after firms of the world, namely, Ernst & Young (EY). It has been 2 years in the firm and I am working there as a Lead Associate.
