We owe it to ourselves and our future generation to conserve our environment so that we can bequeath our children a sustainable world that benefits all.
The environmental society of Bharati College, Palash, aims to bring awareness about environment and its protection among the students and staff of the college. The society is the named after a sacred tree, Palash, also known as "Flame of the Forest", which has abundant uses for health and the herbal medicinal world.
Urban living has brought all sorts of convenience and comfort to our lives but with strings attached. It has caused immense damage to our ecosystem, polluting land, air and water and ultimately affecting the health of all living beings. This is where Palash wants to intervene.
Palash has got tremendous support from our College in organising multiple workshops and seminars on composting and on sustainable menstruation. It also organises its annual fest that creates an atmosphere of need for environmental protection through the active participation of students. It also organizes field trips. To name a couple, it organized a session on composting in a society of 100+ households and arranged a trip to an organic farm in Bulandshahar with support from Bhoomika, an NGO working in this endeavour.
Palash invites all environment enthusiasts to sign up for our society. Only when dedicated volunteers come together can we hope to achieve substantial change in the environment. Due to an overwhelming response from students, we usually select members after a short interview and some interaction. If freshers exhibit a ready willingness to work for nature, we welcome them whole heartedly into the Club.
We will continue to work and spread the word and will always strive to create Eco-conscious beings.
