Foreign Language Courses

Bharati College offers part-time Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses in French and German languages. Though the courses are run and administered by the college, syllabus prescribed by the Department of the German and Roman Studies, University of Delhi, is taught and students take the examination prepared and administered by the University of Delhi.

The College Offering the following Courses for Female Students:

  1. Certificate in German, French, Chinese and Russian Language

  2. Diploma in Chinese, French & German Language

  3. Advanced Diploma in French & German Language

French and German

In collaboration with Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies University of Delhi, the College offers the French and German languages. The course is run and administered by the College on self-finance and syllabus is prescribed by Delhi University. Students take the examination, prepared and administered by the University of Delhi.

Chinese

In collaboration with Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi, the College offers Chinese language at the certificate level. The course is run and administered by the College on self-finance and syllabus is prescribed by Delhi University. Students take the examination prepared and administered by the University of Delhi.

Russian

In collaboration with Department of Savonic & Finno-Ugrian Studies, University of Delhi, and the College offers Russian language. The course is run and administered by the college on self-finance and the syllabus is prescribed by Delhi University. The students take the examination prepared and administered by the University of Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Procedure

  1. CERTIFICATE Candidates who have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2)/Graduation/Post Graduation or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with an aggregate of at least 45% marks from recognize board/University are eligible to apply for admission. Admission will be made strictly in order of merit based.

  2. DIPLOMA Candidates who have passed the Certificate examination of University of Delhi in the language concerned or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible to apply for admission to the Diploma Course in the respective language. Admission will be made strictly in order of merit of the respective Certificate course examination. Candidates who have obtained their certificate in the language from any other institution one year before the year of admission shall be required to appear in an admission test to be conducted by the college.

  3. ADVANCED DIPLOMA Candidates who have passed the Diploma Examination of University of Delhi in the language concerned or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible to Bharati College, University of Delhi FOREIGN LANGUAGES

NUMBER OF SEATS

There are 50 seats in the College. A minimum of 20 students will be deemed to constitute a section to start a course. The college reserves the right to withdraw a course if sufficient numbers of students have not admitted. The reservation policy of Government of India is applicable in all courses.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION (CERTIFICATE, DIPLOMA AND ADVANCED DIPLOMA)

Normally the examinations of part time courses are held in the month of April. Students who pursue a part time language course as well as other course/s from University of Delhi /any other university simultaneously may note that the college does not take any responsibility for adjustment of dates for the annual examination. Students may also note that they can pursue only one part time language course at one time. A student will be deemed to have passed the examination on securing 50% marks in the aggregate and 40% marks in each paper separately. A student securing 75% marks or more in the aggregate will be deemed to have passed with distinction. Attendance & House Examination All the students are required to have at least 55% attendance, failing which they will not be allowed to take the annual examination. House Examination will be held in December. House Examination is compulsory for all the students. Those who fail to appear are liable to pay i.e @1000/- per paper. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to take the annual examination.
