The Department of Music at Bharati College was established in 1996, and since then, it has been dedicated to spreading the rich tradition of classical music among the students. Offering a comprehensive BA program in music, both as a major and a minor, the department also provides harmonium lessons for skill enhancement. Moreover, for other honours courses, music has been introduced as an optional subject, serving as a generic elective for interested students.

The meticulously designed course curriculum not only focuses on training but also aims to enhance the musical capability and potential of the students. It offers fundamental knowledge of music along with lessons in classical vocal music, light music, and folk music. NEP (New Education Policy) is already in function in our department. Aligned with the NEP's vision of holistic education and multidisciplinary learning, our curriculum is designed to not only impart technical skills but also to foster a deep appreciation for music and its cultural significance.

Integral to the department is its vibrant society named “Shruti Samvad,” which fosters musical creativity, expression, research, and dialogue. Emphasizing diversity and interdisciplinary interaction, the society cultivates leadership skills and serves as an agent of change by addressing concerns faced by music students in higher education.

The two permanent teaching faculties- Dr. Sarita Pathak Yajurvedi (Associate Professor) and Dr. Amit Singh (Assistant Professor) are highly qualified and professional, dedicated to training and guiding students. They actively encourage participation in various inter-college and intra-college cultural activities, nurturing holistic development. The students of music put their immense effort to make every event a great success.

Furthermore, the Department of Music is committed to creating a nurturing environment that stimulates artistic growth and fosters a sense of community among students. Through workshops, seminars, and performances, students are provided with opportunities to showcase their talents and refine their skills.
