  • At the graduate level, psychology as an honours subject is offered in almost all recognised universities in the country. In its specialist branches, psychology offers scope for further professional studies after post-graduation in these institutions.

  • In future, professionals in the areas of emotional and mental health management will be in great demand, requiring them to specialise in counselling children, young adults, or geriatrics. With increasing awareness within society of the importance of mental and emotional well-being of leaders, employees, and students to enable them to give their best, the future is bright for those entering this profession. Learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, adjustment problems, low self-esteem, marital problems, teen relationships, parenting, self-esteem, and child sexual abuse are focal areas in which there is a demand.

  • Psychology graduates can easily find jobs in private and government sectors, including various universities, schools, hospitals, clinics, government agencies, etc. They can also find faculty positions in colleges and universities after completing their Masters and clearing NET.

  • Employment in psychology is expected to rise in a few years. Many of the job opportunities will open in the clinic. Rising demand in health care centres, hospitals, mental health centres, social health services and schools will lead to the growth of employment in the psychology sector. The rise in the aging population will further contribute to the increasing need for psychologists.

  • The syllabus of BA (Hons.) in Psychology focuses on personality development, psychotherapy, stress management and neuro-psychology. Students will be able to identify, describe, and contrast the historical foundations, the major theoretical approaches, and the range of questions addressed, the research methods used, and the key research findings in the discipline.

  • The course helps students to engage with and retain a broad base of knowledge in the various domains of Psychology in order to prepare for graduate schools in various disciplines of psychology or education and for a wide variety of postgraduate career opportunities, including but not limited to jobs in education, industry, human health services, and professional schools.

  • With a view to ensure continuous knowledge building, the department also has its own library, exclusively for the students and the faculty of the department, and helps students in need by providing the required textbooks.
