NEP Overview
Delhi University's implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 includes a
new four-year undergraduate (UG) program with multiple entry and exit options, enabling
students to earn a certificate or diploma if they leave mid-degree. The curriculum is now
more multidisciplinary and flexible, allowing for academic mobility. The policy also
emphasizes critical thinking, research, and skill-based learning.
Key features of NEP implementation at Delhi University
- Four-year UG program: All undergraduate courses are now structured as four-year programs to provide more depth and flexibility.
- Multiple Entry and Exit (ME-ME): Students can exit after completing any even semester and re-enter later without losing previously earned credits, which are valid for up to seven years.
- Certificate: Awarded after completing the first year.
- Diploma: Awarded after completing the second year.
- Multidisciplinary curriculum: Students can choose certain courses from various disciplines, fostering a holistic approach to education.
- Emphasis on research and skills: The policy focuses on developing critical thinking, innovation, and research skills, with an option to complete a research dissertation in the fourth year.
